Relics and Embers

We met on that familiar street,
at that familiar house,
where you told me with a knowing look
that it was all a dream.

I don’t know what brought me here,
but I knew the dim glow of the garage lights,
the weathered wooden table,
and the cracked cement.

Our eyes met in the summer dusk
as distant bomb bursts and flashing colors
populated the night sky far above,
leaving faded embers in their wake.

The most authentic thing about us is our capacity to create, to overcome, to endure, to transform, to love and to be greater than our suffering.

In a field
I am the absence
of field.
This is
always the case.
Wherever I am
I am what is missing.

When I walk
I part the air
and always
the air moves in
to fill the spaces
where my body’s been.

We all have reasons
for moving.
I move
to keep things whole.

I want to work in revelations, not just spin silly tales for money. I want to fish as deep down as possible into my own subconscious in the belief that once that far down, everyone will understand because they are the same that far down.

In the medieval period, the university was a citadel, walled off and separate. We are post-citadel. It is wires, not spires, that define a university now.
